Partnerships

I believe in a “team approach” to mental health care. I also believe that not every provider can offer every specialty, can meet logistical needs, or can provide care for all the needs that change over time. This is why I have joined with other experienced, like-minded mental health care providers, to ensure your needs are being met. For instance, your needs may in part be better served in couples or family therapy, or spiritually informed counseling, or through meditation and body work, or through group work.  This is why I am building partnerships with other counselors, therapists and guides to refer when and where I feel your needs will better be served by someone other than myself.  We can collaborate and compliment each other with couples or family therapy or spiritually informed care for example, and in the case where the services are more similar, serve as backup when one of us is away from the office.

Here is a list of these partnerships so far. Bios have been provided by the practitioner:

Samantha Armstrong, Registered Psychotherapist, CAPT

My approach as a psychotherapist is to provide a safe and empathic space where the client is able to explore whatever struggles may be preventing them from living a life of authenticity, meaningfulness, and joy. We can work together to bring awareness to patterns of behaviour and to make sense of how past experiences and relationships have impacted your present life.

I support your journey by working with you at your own pace and by encouraging self-expression and self-discovery through Talk Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Based Therapy, Gestalt, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Tauma Focused Therapy, Movement, Art, Creative Writing, Dreams, Breath Work and Guided Visualization.

Do you ever feel confused or disconnected from a purpose in life?  Do you ask yourself: Why are we here? Is this all there is? How can I calm my thoughts and find some balance?  I am an ordained Spiritual Director through the Aleph Ordination Program in Boulder Colorado have counselled people one on one and in groups for many years. My approach as a spiritual companion, counselor and guide, is non-denominational and profoundly inclusive. I understand our spirituality is not bound by religious practice.  I have counselled everyone from Atheists to highly observant adherents.

I use compassion and deep listening to help create a space where life’s issues, anxiety, sadness, spiritual confusion and depression can be explored. Together, a spiritual toolkit can be developed to help you along your path.  Some tools  include guided meditation, journal writing, affirmations and a life inventory.  Our lives can, in turns, be hard, beautiful, anxious or inspiring.  Through spiritual counselling we can sow the seeds of forgiveness, balance and healing.  Big questions can seem overwhelming but as they say, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time”.
