EMDR

Healing Through Evidence-Based Care, In-Person & Online

If you’re struggling with overwhelming memories, anxiety, or emotional triggers that just won’t go away, EMDR therapy may be the tool that helps you finally move forward. At my practice, I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as a gentle, yet powerful therapy that’s backed by decades of research. Whether you prefer to work together in-person or from the comfort of your own home online, EMDR is a flexible and can be an effective approach to healing.

What Is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR is a structured, evidence-based psychotherapy method designed to help people heal from distressing life experiences, including trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and more. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses less on talking about the painful experience and more on processing and resolving the emotional charge that’s stuck in the nervous system.

It works by helping the brain reprocess difficult memories so they no longer feel as distressing. During a session, we use bilateral stimulation—typically through eye movements, tapping, hand buzzers, or sound—to activate both sides of the brain. This process helps the brain “digest” the memory, reducing emotional intensity and allowing for healthier, more adaptive beliefs to take root.

Many clients find EMDR helps them feel relief more quickly than they expected—often in just a few sessions for a single issue.

EMDR is Backed by Solid Research

EMDR isn’t a trend—it’s been around since the late 1980s and is supported by over 30 randomized controlled trials. The World Health Organization (WHO), American Psychiatric Association, and Department of Veterans Affairs all recommend EMDR as an effective treatment for PTSD.

But EMDR isn’t only for PTSD. It’s now widely used to treat a range of issues, including:

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Depression

  • Phobias

  • Grief and loss

  • Childhood trauma and neglect

  • Performance anxiety

  • Chronic pain and somatic symptoms

  • Low self-esteem and negative self-beliefs

  • Dissociation

One of the reasons EMDR is so effective is that it works with the brain’s natural healing processes. You’re not forced to relive trauma—you’re guided gently and safely through it, with me as your experienced support every step of the way.

EMDR Therapy In-Person and Online

You don’t have to come into an office to benefit from EMDR. I offer both in-person and online EMDR sessions, depending on your comfort level and schedule.

  • In-person sessions are offered in a calm, private, and supportive space where you can feel grounded and present during your healing process.

  • Online EMDR is just as effective for many clients. Using secure video conferencing and digital tools for bilateral stimulation, we can work together no matter where you’re located.

Whether online or in-person, I tailor each EMDR session to your unique needs and pace. We begin with a thorough assessment and preparation phase to ensure you’re fully supported and resourced before we move into any memory processing.
