One-on-one Counselling

Individual Therapy in Ontario — Support for Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Grief, and Life Transitions

Compassionate, trauma-informed psychotherapy for real-life challenges.

If you’re here, chances are something in your life feels overwhelming, unclear, or painful. Maybe you’re struggling with persistent anxiety, burnout, grief, relationship conflict, or a major life transition that has left you feeling untethered. Or perhaps you’re noticing patterns that no longer serve you, and you’re ready to understand—and change—them.

Whatever you’re facing, you don’t have to do it alone.

I’m Cortney, a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario, offering individual therapy (as well as couples and family therapy) that’s personalized, trauma-informed, and deeply rooted in evidence-based care. I work with adults across a wide range of life experiences, identities, and emotional concerns, and my goal is always the same: to help you feel more connected to yourself, more empowered in your choices, and more supported in your healing.

How I Can Help

In our work together, I support clients dealing with:

  • Anxiety and social anxiety

  • Stress and burnout, including caregiver fatigue and workplace overwhelm

  • Depression, including emotional numbness, hopelessness, or self-criticism

  • Grief and loss, including miscarriage, infant loss, and complex bereavement

  • Relationship challenges, including marital strain, infidelity, or emotional disconnection

  • Life transitions—such as starting university, career change, becoming a parent, separation or divorce

  • Trauma recovery, including childhood trauma, abuse, or difficult past relationships

  • Family conflict, estrangement, reunification, or intergenerational tension

  • Personal growth, self-worth, and self-compassion

Whether you’re navigating a new chapter, healing an old wound, or just trying to make sense of the emotional load you’re carrying, therapy can offer space to reflect, unpack, and move forward with intention.

My Approach to Therapy

My work is collaborative, trauma-informed, and integrative—meaning I tailor each session to your unique needs, goals, and personal story. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Instead, I use a blend of evidence-based approaches to address both the symptoms and the root causes of emotional distress.

Some of the modalities I integrate into our work include:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) – For trauma, anxiety, and past emotional injuries

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) – For deepening emotional awareness and building secure connection

  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MBCBT) – For managing thoughts and emotions with clarity and compassion

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) – For healing inner conflict and understanding parts of the self

  • Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) – For enhancing relationships, including parent-child repair work

  • Interpersonal Therapy – For improving relationships and communication

  • And other trauma-sensitive, strength-based approaches depending on your needs

Therapy with me is not about fixing you—because you’re not broken. It’s about creating a safe, respectful, and open space where healing can happen at your own pace.

🌈 An Inclusive and Affirming Space

I welcome individuals from all walks of life and I strive to provide LGBTQ+ positive, anti-oppressive, and culturally responsive therapy. If you come from a marginalized or intersectional background, I will always strive to hold space for the full complexity of your lived experience, and welcome feedback if I miss the mark — the idea is that we are in this together.

What You Can Expect

In our first session, we’ll explore what’s bringing you to therapy, your hopes and goals, and how we might work together. From there, over time, we build a collaborative plan that supports your emotional wellness—not just in sessions, but in your everyday life.

Together, we can work to:

  • Understand emotional patterns and their origins

  • Reduce anxiety, worry, and chronic stress

  • Deepen self-awareness and self-compassion

  • Heal unresolved grief or trauma

  • Navigate life transitions with greater clarity

  • Cultivate healthy relationships and boundaries

  • Reconnect with your strengths and values
