Contact

When you are contacting me by email or the contact form on this page for therapy, please be sure to provide some details as to your availability, whether you are open to online and/or in person therapy, whether you need a therapist covered by your health insurance benefits (not all plans cover Registered Psychotherapists so you have to check), and then some details about what brings you to therapy. This will help me know right away if I think we might be a good fit logistically and otherwise, or whether I can refer you to a colleague. If you use the contact form an do not hear back within 48 hours, please try emailing me directly.
Email is the best way to reach me at: cortney@ontariotherapist.com (remember there is no “u” in Cortney).  For existing client, you can book here: https://cortney-pasternak-counselling-and-psychotherapy.ca1.cliniko.com/bookings

I offer free, 10-20 minute consultations over the phone.  An initial, brief consultation is an opportunity for both of us to explore whether my approach feels like the right fit for what you’re looking for. It is not a therapy session and is not designed to establish a therapeutic relationship, though I appreciate it can feel vulnerable.

Following a consult: Because psychotherapy (and even the consult) is confidential, therapists are limited in how they can respond to public comments or reviews following a brief consult, or even ongoing psychotherapy. If someone has concerns about an interaction with me and my practice, I encourage reaching out directly so concerns can be addressed respectfully and privately whenever possible.

Therapy isn’t about perfect people giving perfect advice.  It’s about two or more humans trying to understand something difficult together.
