As a psychotherapist and a meditation practitioner, I have seen the benefits of mindfulness meditation, and then the ways in which a mindful, non-judgmental stance can be applied outside to life outside of meditation to improve mental health. However, I am an integrative therapist and that means I believe in a combination approach most of the time. There is no ‘one size fits all’. I am not therefore surprised by the study referred to in this article which finds potential benefit from mindfulness meditation and behavioural activation, which can involve activity scheduling for preventing or treating major depression.
